A. I know that VC Andrews wrote many books that creeped me out on late summer nights at the cottage before she passed away. A. I haven't read anything but Flowers in the Attic, but I enjoyed it. I like how twisted her material is, how she'll even go as far to include incestuous themes -- I have a flair for disturbing material -- and all the hell she'll put her characters through. Some authors treat their characters like they're living and hate to put them through anything disastrous, so I find it admirable how Andrews will do so.

I read all of V.C Andrews books and Belva Plain. Is there any other authors out there that write like them?

A. Ok, seriously I know exactly what you're talking about and have spend a long time trying to find books like that. Charlotte Vale Allen: Leftover Dreams Night Magic Those two are the closest I could find similar to the style and stories of VCA.

A. You might want to try John Saul's books. His are more supernatural, but they are about bad things happening to kids. I wasn't exactly sure what you liked about V.C. Andrews.

A. Anne Rice is good...or you could go to amazon.com and do a V.C. Andrews search and pick a book and then look at the books that other buyers who bought that book would buy. This could help...and heck then you could buy the book and have them ship it to her...

I enjoyed VC Andrews when I was younger, especially Flowers in the attic, but I became disillusioned as I read more of them because they were so similar and the really recent ones were terrible in my opinion! I haven't seen the movie but I heard recently they have made one on Rain which I have been meaning to check out. :-)

A. You should read the books by Andrew Neiderman. He took over writing the V.C. Andrews' books after her death from cancer. He has a similar style that I think you would enjoy.

A. Young adult in some stores. It was heavily published in trade paper. There are many books by the author which I believe was a man. Not that it matters. Long dead but I also believe there is a new book posthumously published.

A. Not really for free... but hey i had like 20 of them and i didn't pay more than $2 for any of them... look at thrift stores or half priced book stores! Also... ebay/craigslist, places like that... If people want to sell something bad enough, they'll go pretty cheap... Also the pennysaver. What book has left you at a cliff hanger?? Maybe I still have it...

A. V.C.Andrews is a woman and she is actually dead. She died a while ago, but they kept writing books in her name. The older ones I loved but I think the newer ones got kinda boring. But I recommend reading the older ones like the Flowers in the Attic series.

A. The author who now writes the V.C Andrews books was involved with the works of Virginia Andrews such as The Dollanger series and the Casteel series as well as My Name Is Audrina. Yes Virginia did die in 1986 but the current author has close personal knowledge with her works. Why do you think that V.C Andrews books aren't coming out so much anymore?? I have high quality books of every series but no doubles so I can't trade. ( believe me it took me a long time) but I just thought this would be an interesting piece of info contradict someone's answer that was trying to play down the brilliance of these books!! Don't stop coz while some are definately better than others each series is brilliant in their own right!! ENJOY!!

What V.C. Andrews book is it, that has Cathy going back to Foxworth Hall?
Q. I think I remember something like, she could smell death inside the house. In that same book, its also said that Cathy's mom had Cory buried in the house somewhere, so that was the smell Cathy had noticed. It was one of the books in the Dollanganger series I believe.

A. well, I've read The Dollanganger Series..which is Flowers In The Attic..and those that follow. I liked those ones a lot. I tried reading Melody..and a few others..but just couldn't get into them. I think the ones that were actually wrote by VC Andrews were the best..which weren't many..after she died, the family hired a 'ghost writer' to write under her name.. But check out her website, there is a description of every series.
