List some American books- around 1750-1850?
Q. I have some independent reading due and I'm searching for a novel published around 1750-1850, written by an american author. The topic can be about anything; while I've already found some books to consider, none of them look particularly interesting. I'd like a novel that's especially entertaining & a good read, if possible (: Thanks!

A. Well, there weren't that many novels published before 1850. I'll mention some in no particular order. James Fenimore Cooper probably wrote more novels than nearly anyone else. The Leather stocking Series which includes The Deerslayer, The Pathfinder, The Last of the Mohicans, The Pioneers and The Prarie. Charles Brockden Brown who wrote some really weird works including Weiland and Ormond; Edgar Allen Poe who wrote one novel which isn't nearly as good as his short stories and poetry: The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym; Nathaniel Hawthorne who wrote The Scarlet Letter, The House of the Seven Gables and The Blithedale Romance (some of which were slightly after 1850.) Herman Melville who wrote Moby Dick (published in 1851) and Typee.
