Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another. Etymologically, the word education is derived from educare (Latin) "bring up", which is related to educere "bring out", "bring forth what is within", "bring out potential" and ducere, "to lead". Teachers in educational institutions direct the education of students and might draw on many subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, science and history. This process is sometimes called schooling when referring to the education of teaching only a certain subject, usually as professors at institutions of higher learning. There is also education in fields for those who want specific vocational skills, such as those required to be a pilot. In addition there is an array of education possible at the informal level, such as in museums and libraries, with the Internet and in life experience. Many non-traditional education options are now available and continue to evolve. A right to education has been created and recognized by some jurisdictions: since 1952, Article 2 of the first Protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights obliges all signatory parties to guarantee the right to education. At world level, the United Nations' International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966 guarantees this right under its Article 13. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License How much education is required to be qualified for Immigration to Canada? Q. This is in relation to another question I asked. Under the categories, Provincial Nominee, Skilled Worker, and the new Canadian Experience Class, what is the least amount of education required for Immigration to Canada? Some people keep saying you need to have at least a 4 year degree or a baccalaureate etc to be qualified, yet the Canada Immigration website says you can qualify with less (2 year diploma, etc). So I'm just curious what should I believe and does anyone else have an idea of what the least amount of education is required? Asked by Jacob J - Thu Sep 11 19:01:38 2008 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments A. You can actually qualify with no diploma under provincial nominee. Alberta and BC have semi-skilled options under their PNP's so if you have experience as a bell hop, hotel room cleaner, kitchen helper, fast food worker and some others, you are in. You would only need a job offer from said province doing one of the jobs listed and apply for temporary work permit. Once you are working, you can apply to the PNP with the help of your employer and get permanent residency. For skilled worker, you apply under a points system. You can get points for education, work experience, language skills, age and other things. You are ok to have fewer points in the education category if you have a lot of points in the other ones. There are several options for a child's education in today's world. There are variations in curriculum, teaching methodologies, cultural values, goals of education. There are novel options available today such as unschooling and home schooling that were not as common earlier. What then is an ideal educational system for a child from school through undergraduate and graduation? Where is the best education system available in the world for each of these levels? Asked by pUnkInner - Sat Jan 20 06:30:45 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Globally Denmark is considered to have the best public education system. It spends the most on education per member of the population. If you visit the websites of Danish schools you get a strong feeling of an ordered and caring system. Other Scandinavian countries also have a good reputation especially Finland. As far as methodologies go, there are supporters and detractors for every system, so you cannot really compare. Answered by acerview - Sat Jan 27 05:54:33 2007 What was the education system in South America during the 17th and 18th centuries?
Q. I have to write a little essay on the differences of education in North America and South America during the 17th and 18th centuries. Would anyone have any information on the education system in South America? Asked by Anna - Mon Dec 7 01:46:44 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. ~Would you be referring to Dutch colonies in South America? Or French? Or Spanish? Or Portuguese? The Danish Colonies of the West Indies? And are you comparing them to the French colonies of North America, or the Dutch colonies or the English ones, or perhaps the Spanish, Swedish, Finn, Russian or Scottish? If the English, do you refer to those in New England or in the Mid Atlantic or in the South? The question is so overbroad as to be meaningless and idiotic. If you teacher didn't specify any better than you did, tell him/her for me that she/he is a moron. Or are you simply supposed to assume that such generalities can actually be discussed cogently and with some educational purpose? If so, the teacher is not only a moron, but… [cont.] Answered by Oscar Himpflewitz - Mon Dec 7 02:44:49 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "education" Walk, run to benefit Dani's Dreams Outdoor Education Center at Zion Lutheran ... - Indianapolis Star
